TALKING ABOUT MS WITH MY FAMILY

Not sure how to tell your family or the people close to you about your diagnosis? A good place to start is with open and honest communication.

It’s up to you how much you decide to share with friends and family members. They may not know how to talk to you about your MS. Allowing people to ask you questions in their own time and providing clear, simple answers can help them absorb the information without overwhelming them. If you have children, reassure them that, while there may be some changes, you’re the same family you’ve always been. You can also encourage them to ask you any questions they might have, which will also provide them with reassurance.

Remember, MS not only affects you, but it will also impact everyone in your family. Keeping strong and close family bonds will help everyone.
