Smoking found to increase the risk of Multiple Sclerosis

A study appearing the September 2009 issue of Neurology has found evidence that smoking cigarettes increases the risk of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

The results follow a previous study published in the August 2009 issue of Neurology which linked smoking to an increase in lesion volume and brain atrophy in MS patients who smoke.
